In the early 1950s, Tetra Pak became one of the first companies to package liquid milk. Since then, it has become one of the world's largest suppliers of packaging systems for milk, fruit juices and drinks, as well as many other products.
1991
In 1991, Tetra Pak expanded into liquid food processing equipment, plant engineering and cheese production equipment, gaining? enormous experience in food processing and packaging. Today, Tetra Pak has expanded its business to include packaging for many other food products, including ice-cream, cheese, dry food, fruit and vegetables. It is the only company in the world that is able to provide integrated processing, packaging, and distribution line, as well as ?plant solutions for liquid food production. This means that Tetra Pak's customers enjoy the special advantage of being able to obtain multi-product solutions, along with matching facilities, from a single source.
Today
Tetra Pak boasts 57 marketing companies, 48 packaging material factories and 12 packaging machine assembly factories worldwide. The company has 20,261 employees and, in 2005, earned net sales of 8,109 million Euro. Tetra Pak products are sold in more than 165 markets. In 2005, the company produced more than 120.8 billion packages and provided 64.3 billion litres of liquid products to consumers around the world.
